The Big Lunch Campaign Intern - Marketing and Communications
The Big Lunch is a simple idea from the Eden Project – encouraging as many people as possible across the UK to get together with their neighbours once a year, for a few hours of community, friendship and fun. The next Big Lunch will take place on Sunday 3rd June 2012.
Since starting in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all kinds of communities, in 2011 the number of participants doubled to the best part of two million. A record number of people across the UK are expected to take part in 2012, when The Big Jubilee Lunch will proudly support The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Looking to build on the success and challenges of the past 3 years, we’re currently recruiting for voluntary interns to assist our London team during our busiest period.
Based in the bright and colourful Big Lunch London office we share with our PR agency in Oxford Circus the internship will be flexible, however we hope to find individuals who are able to join the team for two or three days a week until the end of March 2012.
The role is voluntary, but lunch and travel expenses will be paid.
Interns will gain invaluable experience of working on a national community led campaign and will gain first hand experience of tailoring communications for different audiences. Specific responsibilities will include liaising with Councils and Housing Associations to encourage promotion of and support for The Big Lunch to their staff, stakeholders and communities. Interns will be given their induction at the Eden Project towards end of January.
Interns will also be required to:
• Respond to enquiries from the general public
• Provide administrative support
• Promote The Big Lunch at events
• Contribute to the blog and social media as required
