Freaky Nature with Poo!
This event has now finished for 2011; watch out for it next year!
Our Freaky Nature theme was so popular last Easter we’re bringing it back again this May half-term, with an exciting new feature – poo!
Half-term activities for kids
We'll be bringing you interactive exhibits where you can find out all about plants and poo.
Plant exhibits
- A Titan arum – the biggest flower in the world – is in bloom in our rainforest: track its progress on our live webcam.
Seed Bombs: Make a seed bomb explode or aim your bird poo to understand how seeds disperse.- Sticky Survival: Hurl yourself at our sticky wall and get a feel for the way some seeds get about! Cost: £2.50 per person.
- Bug Boutique: Dress up as a bug or flower. A blast for the under 5s.
- Welcome to the Dark Side: Deadly or delightful? Check out the powerful plants, discover their survival tactics: poisons, prickles, aggression…even meat eaters!
- Big It Up: Put plants, parasites and poo under the lens with our mega-microscopes.
- Take a Freaky Plant Tour of the Rainforest Biome to discover
the darker the side of plants, including poisonous, spiky,
carnivorous and even exploding specimens.
Poo exhibits
Pooey: What is poo? Why does it smell? Find out here with weird and wonderful facts.- You Are the Poo: Tackle our assault course as you assume the role and discover what happens after you flush.
- Tales from the Water Closet: Stories of loos across time and cultures and a chance to add your own tales!
- Manure Couture: Model today’s most stylish headgear in the Garden in the blue and yellow stripy tent at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
- Poo Quiz: Take everything you’ve learnt and enter our poo quiz in the blue and yellow stripy tent at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Prizes for the most faecally educated!

Freaky Nature's poo element is a part of the Wellcome Trust's Dirt Season of events, games and a major exhibition at Wellcome Collection.
