Eden logo competition to find fun run number one
Jul20, 2011
The Eden Project is giving children in Cornwall the opportunity to design the official logo for its fun run on October 8.
The fun run takes place on the day before the Eden marathon and half-marathon (both being run on the unforgettable 9/10/11) and its one-mile route goes “around the world”, taking in Eden’s famous Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes.
The winning design will be used on all the event's merchandise, including a special t-shirt that will be given to everyone who finishes the race. The winner will also receive a family ticket to Eden valid for a year, an Eden goodie bag and a free place in the fun run.
Tracey Smith, Eden's Commercial Manager, said: “The fun run logo competition is a great opportunity for a local child to get their work seen by hundreds of people. Maybe it could be the start of a great artistic career?”
Last year’s fun run logo was designed by Adam Grainger from Biscovey Junior School.
To enter the logo competition, see www.edenproject.com/fun-run. Entry to the race is now open and is just £2.
Entries for the marathon and half-marathon are now being accepted. Places cost £30 for the marathon and £23 for the half-marathon with a £2 discount for affiliated runners, to book see www.edenproject.com/marathon.
The courses for the races will follow a similar route to last year, both starting at Eden before touring the landscape of the clay country and returning to finish in front of the iconic Biomes.
Participants can sign up to run for any charity they choose but one option is to run for Eden, raising money in support of its rainforest projects. Rainforests clean the air, make rain, and regulate climate.
To join Eden's team and "run for the rainforest", please email fundraising@edenproject.com or download the fundraising pack from http://www.edenproject.com/support-us/run-for-the-rainforest.php
As in previous years, the races will be run in partnership with St. Austell Running Club.
