Pudsey pops into Eden to promote Children in Need

October 24, 2011

Pudsey Bear delighted children at the Eden Project when he made a surprise visit in advance of this year's BBC Children in Need extravaganza.

Like millions before him, Pudsey strolled out on to the viewing platform to gaze over the famous Biomes and proved a magnet for young visitors curious to know why he was there.

Eden has been chosen as the South West venue for this year's Children in Need Party for fundraisers on Friday 18th November. It'll feature on BBC Spotlight at 1:30pm and 6:30pm on BBC1 and be part of the big Children in Need network programme in the evening.

One of the highlights this year will be children from all over the country coming together at different venues to do a massive choir performance of the song ‘Keep Holding On’ by Avril Lavigne. The young singers are being led by the choirmaster Gareth Malone, best known for presenting The Choir on BBC 2.

Gareth can be seen in the CBBC programme The Big Performance, where he is currently training ten children from around the UK chosen to lead the performance live from the Children in Need studio.                                                                                                  Schools taking part in the performance at Eden are Penrice Community College and Poltair School in St. Austell, Doubletrees School and Hostel in St. Blazey, Richard Lander School in Truro along with Mullion School and Penryn College.

Pudsey will, of course, be there on the night and is planning a skating session on the Eden ice rink, a highlight of the winter season.  Teams from BBC Children in Need will be there to collect donations from organisations and individuals.

Entry to Eden will be free from 6pm but standard charges will apply for skating.
