Residents to create a garden of Eden at the Cosgarne Triangle

August 22, 2011

Residents of Cosgarne Hall, a centre for homeless people, are planning to add a burst of colour to St Austell by planting up the Cosgarne Triangle on the outskirts of town.

They are inviting people who live and work in St Austell to a tea party to discuss the plans and to give their own suggestions.

After visiting the Eden Project as part of the Great Day Out programme, a number of the Cosgarne Hall residents recently transformed the grounds of their own centre.

Now they would like to give something back to the community by planting flowers at the Cosgarne Triangle to add colour to the site.

Cosgarne Hall is a centre for homeless people that aims to help them address the issues that have caused them to be homeless and so encouraging them to return to independent living.

Jodie Giles, Great Day Out Programme Manager, said: "We are very excited about this project because it's a really great example of people getting together to make a difference.

“We have been working with the residents of Cosgarne Hall since last year and have met some lovely and talented people who want to give back to the community they live in. The staff at Cosgarne are very proactive and the support we have received so far from everyone has been very encouraging."

Great Day Out is a project that offers free Eden day trips to homeless people, offenders and excluded young people to give them a chance to see things from a new perspective and be inspired. The day consists of tailor-made activities and experiences that help the visitors build confidence and take positive steps forward.

All are invited to the Cosgarne Triangle meeting which takes place on Tuesday, August 23, from 4pm until 6pm at Cosgarne Hall in St Austell.
