Scares and surprises at the Eden Project this Haloween half-term

October 25, 2010

There are plenty of spooky treats for all the family at the Eden Project this Halloween half-term.

Every day this week until Sunday October 31, young witches and wizards can take part in wand-making sessions and practise their skills in the Wishcraft tent, casting secret spells and creating potions and tinctures.

Curious characters add to the eerie atmosphere with scary story-telling, while the challenge of the Creepy Hollow awaits those who are brave enough to enter.

Creative visitors can also take part in pumpkin-carving or have their face painted with a beautiful design.

From 12pm until 4pm everyday, there is a chance to meet the beautiful residents of the Screech Owl Sanctuary in the Mediterranean Biome, while the Garden is the place to get up close and personal with bats on Wednesday, October 27.

As Halloween approaches, visitors are challenged to take a spine-tingling journey through the Rainforest Biome on Skate and Scream nights on Thursday and Friday, October 28 and 29. A £10 ticket includes a skate session on the spooktacular new ice rink, while £6 covers the scary rainforest experience alone. This event is not for the faint-hearted or children under 12.

On Saturday and Sunday, October 30 and 31, the popular Little Monsters’ Ball returns. This evening of thrills and chills for all the family is the perfect excuse to get into fancy dress. Tickets cost £7 per person.

Both Skate and Scream and the Little Monsters’ Ball start at 6pm and go on until 9pm. Tickets for these events are limited, so booking is essential. For further information, contact the box office on 01726 811972.

The ice rink is open from 11am until 5pm each day, and costs £5 for a 40-minute skate session.

Chris Pritchard, assistant programme producer at Eden, said: “There are so many Halloween activities happening at Eden this half-term it’s a great way to keep the whole family entertained.”
