Arts Café at the Eden Project returns with slam poetry champ

The Eden Project’s acclaimed Arts Cafe returns on November 6, with a headline performance by BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam winner Dizraeli.

Dizraeli, poet, rapper and frontman of funky dub collective Bad Science, is appearing at Arts Café as part of the launch tour for his debut solo album Engurland (City Shanties). He will be joined on stage by beatboxer Bellatrix, winner in the female category at the BBN Beatbox World Championships this year, and Brighton-based rockers Small Gods.

Dizraeli will be playing in the Link building – between the world-famous Biomes – in a special Arts Café that will be taking in the whole Eden site. Resident DJs Jelly Jazz will also be on disc-spinning duty throughout the night.

Also appearing will be DJ vs. the Drummer, a four-piece drum and double-bass collective featuring Hollie G of Roni Size’s Full Cycle label.

The Biomes will be open on the night and Arts Café’s trademark mix of good food and drink will be available from Eden’s bars and restaurants.

As ever, the Arts Café marketplace of ideas will see conversations about Eden’s Climate Revolution, 21st Century Living, Real Cool Futures and Earthling projects throughout the night. Representatives from Greenpeace and Low Carbon Cornwall will be there.

Beth Lewitt, Eden’s Events Manager, said: “November’s Arts Café is bringing one of the finest street poets in Dizraeli together with the world’s best female beatboxer in Bellatrix – I can’t wait! With the event taking place on a site-wide scale, this is going to be one of the biggest and best Arts Cafés we’ve ever seen.”
