Dreadzone to launch album at Eden’s autumn Arts Café

September 17, 2010

Electronica superstars Dreadzone will be launching their new record Eye on the Horizon at the Eden Project, Arts Café’s Big Autumn bash, on Friday October 1.

Dreadzone made their debut in 1993 and have become firm live favourites with six studio albums under their belts. Their music is a pioneering fusion of dub, reggae, techno and trance. Second Light, their second record, was cited by the legendary John Peel as one of his favourite albums.

Arts Café’s resident DJs Jelly Jazz will also be playing throughout the evening.

Following last month’s second birthday celebrations, harvest is the theme for October’s Arts Café with seasonal food and drink available during the evening.

The show will take place in the Link building between the iconic Biomes, which will be open until 9.30pm. There will be capoeira (a Brazilian martial art with elements of music and dance) demonstrations in the Mediterranean Biome and tropical treats will be provided by Eden horticulturists Hetty Ninnis and Juliano Borin in the Rainforest Biome.

Representatives from the Eden projects: Gardens for Life, Seeds, Soup and Sarnies and People and Gardens will be on hand throughout the evening to discuss the schemes with visitors.

An exhibition of pictures from acclaimed photographer Jason Florio will also be on show. Jason walked across the Gambia as part of the Gardens for Life programme and was recently named “People Photographer of the Year” at the International Photography Awards.

Beth Lewitt, Eden’s Events Manager, said: “This will be an incredible night, Dreadzone are one of the biggest and best bands we’ve ever hosted at Arts Café, so prepare for a bountiful seasonal bash in our global gardens.’

Admission to October’s Arts Café costs £10 or £15 with a seasonal supper included. Advance bookings of either ticket include a free drink. To book or find out more, see www.edenproject.com or call the Eden box office on 01726 811972. Follow Arts Café on Facebook at www.facebook.com/artscafe.
