Eden wishes a Happy New Year to the community with £5 entry offer

The Eden Project is saying thank you to the local community by offering entrance for just £5 per person.

As a token of Eden’s appreciation for all the support over the years, locals who visit from now until February 12, can gain entry for £5 per adult. This also entitles them to an Eden membership with free entry for a whole year.

The offer creates the ideal chance to skate off those post-Christmas pounds on the ice-rink. Visitors can then warm up with a steamy trek through the Rainforest Biome.

On Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings until February 12, there are special playtime sessions on the ice for children under five. The sessions, between 10.30am and 11.40am, allow them and their parents to experience the ice without skates on and play with the toys provided.

Eden Marketing Director, Susan Hill, said: “This is a ‘thank you’ to all of Cornwall and Devon for the terrific support Eden gets year on year. It’s also a great way for residents of the two counties to see what we have to offer during January. What could be more invigorating than a skate in sub-zero temperatures and a stroll through the tropics all in one great visit?”

Visitors who would like to take up the offer of ‘locals for a fiver’ must bring proof of residency in Cornwall or Devon (for example a utility bill) and photographic ID.

Children can come in free as part of a family group until February 12 and their entrance can be upgraded to a year's membership with a £2 fee.

This February half term as well as skating, Eden has a special visitor - TV favourite Shaun the Sheep is coming to the site with real sets from the show.

Eden will be hosting ‘claymation workshops’ with members of the team from Aardman, the creative geniuses behind the famous Wallace and Gromit series.
