Stargazing Live at the Eden Project

January 6, 2011

The Eden Project gave late-night visitors a chance to see the wonders of the universe yesterday evening (Tuesday) as part of the BBC Stargazing LIVE programmes.

Despite rain and cloud cover on the night, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the night sky with experts from the Roseland Observatory, see pictures from the morning's partial solar eclipse and hear talks on specific aspects of astronomy such as photography of the constellations.

Yesterday evening's broadcast of Stargazing Live was screened and video feeds of the sky taken from around the world were also shown.

Martin Williams, Eden’s Sales and Marketing Director, said: "At Eden we're used to showing visitors how we are connected to nature, but normally we focus on the natural wonders here on Earth.

“Yesterday evening, it was great to turn our attention to the natural wonders above our heads, with our friends at the Roseland Observatory and BBC Stargazing Live."

Stargazing LIVE on BBC Two is hosted by top physicist Professor Brian Cox and comedian Dara O’Briain. The programmes are available to watch via BBC iPlayer until 12th January.
