First ever Eden Project wedding fair unveiled

January 13, 2011

Future brides and grooms will be given the opportunity to check out the best Cornwall has to offer at the first Eden Project wedding fair on Sunday March 20, 2011.

Local companies will be showing off everything to make a wedding go smoothly, from dresses to discos and photographers to food.

There is still space left for exhibitors at the fair and any Cornish companies interested in being involved should contact Rebecca Le Boulanger on 01726 811988.

Visitors to the fair will also be given the opportunity to find out more about getting married at the Eden Project.

Eden hosted nine wedding ceremonies last year and there are a number of venues around the site in which people can make their vows, including both the Mediterranean and Rainforest Biomes.

Weddings at Eden can be tailored to the couple’s exact specification and every nuptial nuance can be catered for. Last year, the Mediterranean Biome played host to a James Bond-themed marriage, complete with the groom and best man abseiling down to the altar.

All ceremonies at Eden also have their flowers arranged and prepared by a special team of Eden’s world-class horticulturists, affectionately known as the ”flower fairies”.

Di Hall, Eden’s Events and Hospitality Manager, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing together everything a couple needs for a quintessentially Cornish wedding. We know how hectic it can be organising the ‘big day’ so we hope we can help make that process as straightforward as possible.

“For those who haven’t settled on a venue, our wedding fair is also a great opportunity to have a tour around the Eden Project and discuss your wedding requirements.”

Eden’s wedding fair takes place in the project’s Gallery restaurant in the Visitor Centre between 11am and 4pm on March 20. Entry is free, although anyone who wants to visit the main Eden site will need to pay standard admission.

The event is being organised in conjunction with Sue Fowler Bouquet Preservation.
